April 2024 Sport Preview
Looking back at what the year has produced in the sport world it surely has been an exciting start to 2024. The Irish won the Six Nations Championships again, and now they have the SA tour to prep for. Italy were a force to be reckoned with so we are excited to see what the future holds for these incredible players.
Most major sports events for April are listed here in our April 2024 Sport Preview. So let us set our sights on this jam packed month and enjoy what the sport world has to offer.
Ongoing Sports Events
Women’s Guinness Six Nations: Italy are performing exceptionally well in this tournament and England are also on form! The next round of matches are the weekend of the 13th of April. We covered the start of the W6N in our March 2024 Sport Preview. So here are the matches for the rest of April:

5th Round of Matches
- Sat, April 27: Wales v Italy (13:15pm, Principality Stadium)
- Sat, April 27: Ireland v Scotland (15:30pm, Kingspan Stadium)
- Sat, April 27: France v England (17:45pm, Stade Chaban-Delmas)
HSBC 7s: Next up we have the Hong Kong 7s. So currently the Australian Women and Argentinian men are leading the way with both at 90 points. France Men and NZ Women won LA 7s so let’s see what surprises Hong Kong brings.
Formula 1: Ferraris Sainz stormed to victory amid drama in Australia as Verstappen and Hamilton retired and Russell crashes out on the last lap trying to pass Alonso. Next up is Japan 5-7 April 2024 and then China 19-21 April 2024.
Soccer Update for April
UEFA Champions League: Real Madrid and Man City are both on 18 points. With Bayern on 16 points, Atletico Madrid on 14 and also Arsenal on 13 points. The quarter finals commence 9 April with Arsenal vs Bayern and Real Madrid vs Man City.
EPL: Liverpool is still ahead with 67 points, Arsenal in second place with 65 points. So Man City are in a close 3rd with 64 points and Aston Villa in 4th with 59 points. Tottenham are in 5th with 56 points.
Serie A: Inter are in 1st position with 79 points, then Milan with 65 and Juventus in 3rd with 59. In 4th you have Bologna at 57 points and in 5th Roma with 52 points.
LaLiga: Real Madrid in 1st position with 75 points, Barcelona moved to 2nd with 67 points and Girona in 3rd position with 65 points. In 4th we have Atletico Madrid with 58 points and in 5th Athletic Club with 56 points.
Bundesliga: Leverkusen are in the lead with 73 points, in 2nd we have Bayern with 60 points and 3rd VfB Stuttgart with 57 points.In 4th we have Dortmund with 53 points and 5th RB Leipzig with 50 points. Will Leverkusen be able to win the league after Munich did so for eleven consecutive seasons?
The Masters
The Masters 2024 Golf Tournament will be taking place from 8 – 14 April 2024 at the Augusta National Golf Course. Furthermore there is an elite field set to open the Masters with Scottie Scheffler leading the pack. Can he repeat his last year victory? Then we have Brooks Koepka, Rory Mcilroy, Jon Rahm, Jordan Spieth and Tiger Woods to look forward to.
Two Oceans Marathon
The 2024 Two Oceans will be run on 13 April 2024 which is an ultra marathon at 56 km. You can also do the half marathon at 21 km. This ultra marathon is held in Cape Town annually and normally over the Easter Weekend. It is also known as the most beautiful marathon in the world! With spectacular scenery through the Cape Peninsula.
Grand National
The Grand National is a horse race held annually at the Aintree Racecourse in the UK. This year it will be on Saturday 13 April 2024. The obvious favourites are held by Nick Rockett, Where It All Began, and Yeah Man respectively. Furthermore this is a showcase over 3 days and includes the world’s greatest Steeplechase. Other Sports Events
London Marathon
The London Marathon will be on 21 April 2024 in London, UK. It is an annual marathon which was first held in 1981 and since then very popular amongst runners. London Marathon went back to its springtime slot in 2023 after being held in the autumn during the pandemic years.
NBA Playoffs
The NBA playoffs begin on 20 April 2024 and Boston and Milwaukee obviously are the favourites. However if the Knicks make some magic they will make it a tough series. And the Mavericks have been a nice surprise too! But so much can happen so make sure you follow the playoffs!
Snooker Champs
The World Snooker Championship 2024 shall begin on Saturday 20 April 2024 and run until the final on 6 May 2024. There will be morning, afternoon and evening sessions during these 2 weeks.
Investec Champions Cup
This weekend marks the return of the Investec Champions Cup, with the round of 16 taking centre stage as the competition for the crown heats up. Last 16:
