Soccer Update for May

Since our April 2024 Sport Preview quite a few standings have changed and some leagues are coming to an end.

UEFA Champions League: The end is near! The 1st semi final is on 7 May between PSG and Dortmund. Then the 2nd semi final is on 8 May between Real Madrid and Bayern. Final will commence on 1 June 2024.

EPL: Arsenal have made it to the top with 80 points! In 2nd we have Man City with 79 points, Liverpool in 3rd with 75 points. Then Aston Villa in 4th with 67 points and 5th we have Tottenham with 60 points.

Serie A: Inter are in 1st position with 89 points, then Milan with 70 and Juventus in 3rd with 65. In 4th you have Bologna at 63 points and in 5th Roma with 59 points.

LaLiga: Real Madrid in 1st position with 84 points, Barcelona moved to 2nd with 73 points and Girona in 3rd position with 71 points. In 4th we have Atletico Madrid with 64 points and in 5th Athletic Club with 58 points.

Bundesliga: Leverkusen are in the lead with 81 points, in 2nd we have Bayern with 69 points and 3rd VfB Stuttgart with 64 points. In 4th we have RB Leipzig with 62 points and 5th Dortmund with 57 points. It was great to see that Leverkusen secured the title after Munich did so for eleven consecutive seasons.

French Open

The French Open, also known as the Roland-Garros, will commence from 20 May 2024 to 9 June 2024. Furthermore Rafael Nadal said goodbye to Madrid in his final performance and next on his farewell journey is the French Open. So can he make this his 15th win at Ronad Garros? European Rugby Champions Cup

This rugby tournament use to be the Heineken Championship and is now the Investec Champions Cup. However no matter what it is called this is always riveting rugby to watch! With the iconic Churchill Downs playing host to this high-stakes event, thoroughbreds from across the globe will thunder down the track. Thus striving for glory in the “Run for the Roses”. Giro d’italia

Onalenna Khonkhobe and Gerda Steyn won the Two Oceans marathon which were epic wins for both these runners. Gerda Steyn won her 5th Two Oceans Ultra Marathon and also beating her own record.
