Betting Odds and Runners

The 2024 Festival is almost here, and excitement is building as the Grand National betting odds are becoming more unpredictable.  Our recommended Grand National betting sites offer competitive prices, so now’s the time to get in on the action.

Corach Rambler, Is the current favorite to win the race, but there are some new things to think about for the 2024 Grand National.  Safety measures have been updated, with the number of runners reduced to 34. And the race starting with a standing start. Plus, the first fence has been moved closer to the start. adding a new challenge for the jockeys and horses.

When considering which Grand National runners to bet on, it’s crucial to pay attention to factors like the weight each horse carries and which jockey will be riding.

Also, don’t overlook the track conditions, known as the “Going,” as it can be good or soft, affecting the race’s outcome and the Grand National betting odds.  Horses that perform well at events like the Cheltenham Festival often see their odds decrease as the Grand National approaches. This was the case with Corach Rambler, whose odds shortened after a strong showing.

Former Grand National winners

Tiger Roll in 2019 and Noble Yeats in 2022, remain popular choices, with Noble Yeats impressing with a fourth-place finish in 2023. Expect to see both of them in the mix for the 2024 race. Corach Rambler, aiming for back-to-back wins, is also a favorite among bettors.

The Grand National always provides unforgettable moments, and 2023 was no exception. Trainer Lucinda Russell and jockey Derek Fox, who previously won with One For Arthur six years ago, teamed up again to triumph with 8/1 favorite Corach Rambler.

This victory came less than a month after the passing of One For Arthur, adding a poignant layer to their success.

Contenders for the Randox Grand National

A total of 55 horses are still in contention for the Randox Grand National. Last week, 22 horses, including Asterion Forlonge, Threeunderthrufive, Letsbeclearaboutit, and James du Berlais, were removed from consideration. Additionally, three more horses – Classic Getaway, Bronn, and Full Back – have since been scratched. Despite these changes, the red-hot favorite, Corach Rambler, remains at the top of the betting market with odds of 4/1.

Weight Allocation and Potential Runners

Hewick, previously allocated top weight for the Grand National, is slated to compete in the Aintree Bowl instead. Currently, Conflated is set to carry the highest weight of 72.6 kg. Whilst last year’s winner, Corach Rambler, will carry seven kilograms less. Notably, trainers Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott could collectively enter 20 horses, comprising over half the field. This dominance surpassed the total number of British entries. They expect around 8, led by Corach Rambler.

Horses on the Edge

Some horses are on the verge of making the final cut for the Grand National. Among them is Kitty’s Light, the hero of last year’s Scottish National-Bet 365 Gold Cup, currently sitting at 38th position.

Meanwhile, Cheltenham winner Shakem Up’arry, owned by Harry Redknapp, is in 44th place. However requires 10 withdrawals to secure a spot. Despite his recent success at Cheltenham, he faces uncertainty due to the handicap conditions.
