Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
Officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and also commonly known as Birmingham 2022. Therefore it is an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth. The event will see many of the world’s top athletes gathering in Birmingham, England. The event runs from 28 July 2022 to 8 August 2022. There are multiple disciplines in sports like athletics, gymnastics and swimming. However you will find something for everyone like beach volleyball, cricket T20, cycling, netball, rugby 7s, basketball, boxing and so much more.

Some of the talent to look out for and keep in mind when placing those bets are:

English Premier League 2022-2023 season (EPL)
Equally, one of the highlights in the Football calendar is the EPL which starts on 6 August 2022. Read our article covering the English Premier League 2021-2022 for a refresh. The league will take a break after matchday 16 which ends 13 November. This is due to the World Cup that will be taking place in Qatar from 21 November 2022 to 18 December 2022. After the Football World Cup the Premier League will restart on 26 December 2022. European Championships Munich 2022
From 11 – 21 August 2022 there will be multi-sport events in Munich, Germany. It will be the biggest sports event in Germany since the 1972 Summer Olympics. The tournament will consist of nine sports: athletics, cycling, gymnastics, sport climbing, beach volleyball, canoe sprint, rowing, table tennis and triathlon. The official opening will be on Wednesday 10th of August and will combine sport and culture. Around 4700 athletes from 50 nations will feature in the European Championships in Munich. Above all, European sport will be unified as its best athletes compete for the highest award of their sport on the continent. Over the 11 days we are sure to see some exciting and surprising results. Cycling: 2022 Vuelta a España
La Vuelta is one of the leading cycling races in the international sport calendar. It consists of 21 stages and 3 weeks of competition from 19 August – 11 September 2022. The route includes nine mountain stages and two time trials, one for individuals and one for the teams. Cyclists to keep an eye on are Primoz Roglic, Tadej Pogacar, Jai Hindley, Richard Carapaz and Remco Evenepoel. The total distance covered is an extraordinary 3280.50 km.
England vs South Africa 1st test at Lords
The 1st test between England and the Proteas runs between 17 August and 21 August 2022 on the very special grounds of Lord’s. Looking at the recent performance in 2022 of the teams each have won 4 tests and lost 1 test each. England lost against the West Indies in March 2022 and South Africa lost again New Zealand in February 2022. The ODI series between England and South Africa ended in a draw on 24 July 2022 due to rain. The players to watch in the Protea team are Dean Elgar, Keegan Petersen, Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj. Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua II
The much-anticipated 2nd bout will take place on 20 August 2022 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Oleksandr Usyk will defend his WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles in this long awaited rematch with former titleholder Anthony Joshua. Usyk defeated Joshua via a unanimous decision in September 2021. This is a difficult one to call and some think it may be an even fight which means it could go any way. Belgium Grand Prix 2022
The Belgian 2022 Grand Prix starts on Friday 26th of August 2022 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Spa is among Formula 1 drivers’ most loved tracks, with a mix of long straights and challenging fast corners allowing them to push their cars to the edge. Max Verstappen won the 2021 race. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell took 2nd and 3rd respectively. It was very wet conditions. 2 laps took place behind the safety car before a red flag brought an end to the race during lap 3. Regulations required that the results be taken from the end of lap one.

Comrades Marathon
The Comrades Marathon is a very special run and popular among most long distance runners. It is an Ultra Marathon run on the road of about 89km. Daniil Medvedev was the 2021 US Open Men’s singles winner with Novak Djokovic as the runner up. Undoubtedly Djokovic may be on the list to play but will not be allowed to enter the country due to his vaccination record. it should be noted that Medvedev and his fellow Russians were banned from Wimbledon this year as a result of the invasion of Ukraine. However he will return to defend his title at the US Open as he may play in New York although not under his national flag.
However, Serena Williams is hoping for that record 24 Grand Slams and the star won her last major in 2017. US Open 2021 Women’s Champion Emma Raducanu will return as the 1st British women to win a major since 1977. Finally, two-time winner Naomi Usaka will surely be one to watch.
Moreover this will be the fourth and final tennis major of the Grand Slam calendar year. It will run from Monday 29 August 2022 – Sunday 11 September 2022. England vs South Africa 2nd test at Old Trafford

The Para Athletics Championships will be held in Kobe, Japan from 26 August – 4 September 2022. It is a Paralympic track and field meet organized by the World Para Athletics subcommittee. About 1300 athletes from 100 countries are expected to compete in this tournament and it is the 1st time it is being held in Japan.
LA Rugby HSBC Sevens
On 27 August 2022 it will be the last stretch for the Blitzboks in the HSBC sevens championship. And then we head for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town. How Exciting!
