The 13th edition of the UEFA European Women’s Football Championship is currently on. While women’s soccer is not always on our radar and also less watched than men’s football the current tournament in England is definitely worth following.

Especially with no other major soccer matches going on. Until the final on 31 July 2022 the best 16 women’s national teams play excellent football. While the group stage is over have a read through our Women’s Euro 2022 article to possibly place some final bets on the remaining teams.

16 teams have qualified for the 2022 Women’s Euro and were drawn into the following groups

Group A

Northern Ireland on the other hand lost all 3 games but made nevertheless history: the NI women’s team competed in their first major tournament. Spain confirmed their place in the last eight with a last minute goal against Denmark and will face England. That’s definitely one to watch. For Denmark and Finland the Euro 2022 dream is hence over.

The defending champions Netherlands are also through to the quarter finals. The same applies to Sweden who top the group table and well deserved also move on.

Lastly, in Group D France was through to the quarterfinals after the second group match already. But the fight for the second place in Group D was on until the very last minute. With a 1:0 victory against Italy Belgium then grabbed this spot. Moreover the Belgium Women’s team made history as they never made it through the knockout stages of a major tournament before.

Semi-finals

The winner of game 1 (England or Spain) will afterwards face the winner of game 3 (either Sweden or Belgium) on Tuesday 26 July. Therefore the winner of game 2 (Germany or Austria) will face the winner of game 4 (France or Netherlands) on Wednesday 27 July.

Final

The winning teams of both semi finals will then move on to the final and play for European glory on Saturday 31 July. Who will be the champion of the Women’s Euros 2022? The Netherlands have the change to defend their title but host England is looking very strong. Moreover, the public is standing as a 12th woman very much behind their team.
