World Rugby Awards 2024

In Monaco, rugby’s brightest stars gathered for a glittering awards ceremony where 14 honors celebrated the sport’s finest achievements. As rugby sevens shone on the global stage at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and the inaugural SVNS Grand Final in Madrid, Maddison Levi of Australia and Antoine Dupont of France earned the prestigious title of World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year.

Considering that Levi was nominated in 2022 as well as 2023. And that her outstanding year saw her set a new record for the most tries in a single Olympic Games (14) after scoring 69 tries on the HSBC SVNS 2024. Therefore the second-highest total in men’s or women’s series history, it was a case of third time lucky for the Australian. After Charlotte Caslick and Emilee Cherry, the prolific finisher is the third Australian to win.

French sensation Dupont became the first male player in history to win World Rugby Player of the Year in both the sevens and 15s (2021 and 2024). After helping France win their first HSBC SVNS titles since 2007 in Los Angeles, Madrid, and Olympic gold in Paris.

Jérôme Daret earned the title of World Rugby Coach of the Year for leading France to Olympic gold in July and ending a 19-year wait for an SVNS title cup. Daret became the first-ever sevens coach to receive this prestigious recognition, underscoring his exceptional leadership and strategic brilliance throughout the season.

Pieter-Steph du Toit (South Africa) and Ellie Kildunne (England) win the most awards in the 15s divisions. Wallace Sititi (New Zealand) and Erin King (Ireland), two young marvels, win World Rugby 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year.
