The Blitz Bokke have had a fantastic run in 2026 so far. Notably, our boys are currently ranked number one in the world after beating Fiji in the last round of matches that took place in New York in March. Following this, the HSBC SVNS now goes into World Championship mode. In this phase, the top teams play in three events to decide the 2026 winner. The next stop for the teams is rugby 7s Hong Kong. South Africa men’s are in Group A alongside Argentina, Spain and Uruguay. Meanwhile, the South African women’s team is in Group B with Great Britain, Canada and Australia. Current World Standings
The South African men’s team is going into the Championship round as the number on team in rankings with 106 points. Furthermore, they are closely followed by Fiji who has 104 points. Importantly, both of teams are very far ahead on points with Australia in third with only 82 points. On the other hand, New Zealand leads the charge in the women’s division with 118 points. They are then followed by Australia with 110 points. Meanwhile, South Africa’s women’s team is in the 10th spot on the log with 71 points and hoping to play their way into the 2027 HSBC 7s Tournament. Next Leg of HSBC 7S
The next three game weekends are the finals for the World Championship. The Blitzbokke are on form and the Bok Women are performing very well. So be sure not to miss these weekends.
- Hong Kong World Rugby Sevens Series
The HSBC SVNS Championship tournament features 12 teams, split into three groups of four. Overall, the Championship matches run over three days, with the Hong Kong leg starting on 17 April and finishing on 19 April.
Furthermore, the South African women’s team is in a tough group with all of the teams doing well in world rankings but don’t underestimate them.
2. Valladolid 7s
Next, the second last stop on the hsbc world rugby sevens series is Valladolid in Spain. The rugby 7s Valladolid leg of the hsbc rugby sevens will be played between the 29th and 31st of May.
3. The Bordeaux 7s
Finally, the rugby 7s Bordeaux is the final leg of the Championship. Here, the final matches to decide the men’s and women’s champions will be from the 5th to the 7th of June.
