Get ready for the rumble, South Africa! World Rugby has just rolled out the full itinerary for the second edition of WXV, and it’s shaping up to be a barnstormer of a tournament. Not only will this women’s 15s competition captivate fans with its high-octane clashes across three levels in Vancouver, South Africa, and Dubai. But it also dangles the coveted prize of six open slots for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

From Friday, 27 September – Saturday, 12 October, you won’t want to miss out as 27 high-stakes matches unfold across our beautiful planet. We’ve got Dubai (Division 3) and South Africa (Division 2) taking a victory lap as returning hosts after a successful 2023 run. Furthermore Canada welcomes the WXV 2 Division 1 in 2024 at the iconic BC Place in Vancouver.

Vancouver Set for WXV Division 1 Spectacle

Vancouver’s no newbie when it comes to world-class rugby, and BC Place is where sparks will fly first. Imagine a triple-header opener with USA and England tearing up the turf, followed by hosts Canada locking horns with France. Also don’t sleep on Ireland—after rocketing from WXV 3 to the big leagues, they’ll face off with New Zealand right out of the gate. With Canada aiming to leverage their home-field advantage against the reigning WXV 1 champs England. So you bet there’s some serious drama brewing!

WXV Division 2 Continues to Build in South Africa

South Africa, here’s where you shine! The Bok Women are gearing up to tackle Japan, and with the thunderous roars from the home crowd, this clash is going to be epic. On 28 September, newcomers Australia and Wales jump into the mix, also ready to duke it out, while Italy squares off with Scotland. The grand finale? Australia vying to snag Scotland’s crown and punch their ticket to England 2025. Springbok Women ready for another notch on their belt this season? They did after all beat the Barbarians in Cape Town for the 1st time with an astonishing result! Heartbeats are surely rising already!

Race to Secure Women RWC Places in Dubai

Keep your eyes peeled on Dubai, where the last of the Women’s RWC 2025 spots are up for grabs. Spain tangos with Madagascar for the first time on 27 September, and hot on their heels, Hong Kong China and the Netherlands add fresh energy to WXV 2 Division 3. Expect a newly minted champion come the final weekend, with Samoa versus Madagascar kicking things off on 11 October and a trio of matchups set to close out the tourney with a bang.

Sally Horrox, the chief powerhouse of Women’s Rugby at World Rugby, is buzzed: “Brace yourselves for what promises to be a jaw-dropping second run of WXV in 2024. With World Cup berths on the line, it’s go big or go home. Get set for sizzling encounters, fresh rivalries, and standout athletes leaving it all on the pitch. It’s a pivotal stop on the highway to the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 in England.”

WXV 2 Stands Tall

Since kick-starting in October 2023, WXV stands tall as a beacon for World Rugby’s mission to rev up the women’s game’s profile, players, and pace. More showdowns for the unions, oodles of visibility, and a piledriver of investment. Therefore all roads lead to an expanded 16-team Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 in the UK.

Behind the scenes, heavy hitters like Mastercard, Capgemini, Gallagher, Mitsubishi Electric, and ChildFund Rugby are pumping up WXV, with World Rugby tossing in a multi-million pound wad over two years en route to England’s showdown.

And hey, let’s not gloss over the heart-pounder that is women’s rugby—it’s skyrocketing! The WXV, now in its sophomore year, is throwing fuel on that fire. With more exposure and high-caliber international play, these athletes are inspiring legions of future stars and rewriting the narrative for women’s rugby.
