22 June 2026 |

Nothing says that summer has arrived in England as much as champagne with strawberries and cream at the Wimbledon grounds. Grand Slam tennis tournaments in 2026 have produced some wonderful tennis action in the first half of the year.

Roland Garros just finished in spectacular fashion with Alexander Zverev winning his first Grand Slam title in a nail biting five set match against 10th seed Flavio Cobolli. Russian Mirra Aleksandrovna Andreeva earned her first Grand Slam title when she beat Maja Chwalinska in two sets. Now it is almost time for Wimbledon 2026 and their stunning courts and some english culture.

The History of the Grass Court

The 2026 Wimbledon Championship will take place from the 29th of June to the 12th of June. It is the third Grand Slam tournament on the yearly calendar. Wimbledon is the most prestigious out of all the other Grand Slams. It the only Grand Slam played on grass. This is the 149th edition of the Championship.

The first competition was held in 1877 and featured 22 players. The whole event took five days to play. It took 7 more years before women’s singles and men’s doubles were added to the Championship. It would take almost another half century for the first black person to compete in 1924. Another interesting fact is that until 1922, the title holder only had to play in the final.

The marathon encounter took place between 22 and 24 June 2010 on Court 18 and finished with Isner winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 70-68.
