Its Crouch, Bind and Set this Weekend!
August is that time of the year when spring is around the corner. Trees start to blossom, the sun comes up a bit earlier in the mornings and Mzansi is ready to say goodbye to winter. August is also one of the biggest months on sports calendar with many local and international competitions kicking off the season.
The Currie Cup just started a few weeks ago and has made for some amazing provincial rugby viewing. Boland has had an incredible season thus far beating the Golden Lions and Free State Cheethas in their first few matches. But enough about the Currie Cup let’s talk about what everyone has been looking forward to – The Rugby Championship.

South Africa announced the Rugby Championship squad to take on Australia on Monday. However, Australia has not released the names of their squad at the time of writing.
Rassie went with experience in the Springbok’s first encounter against the Wallabies in the Championship. Siya Kolisi will also be wearing the number 8 jersey for the first time in a match this coming weekend.

Friendly Banter
There is as always a bit of chirping that takes before a big competition like the Rugby Championship. Some times it’s between coaches, pundits and supporters. The gloves came off last week when ex Scottish coach Matt Williams threw a punch at the Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus. He expresses his views on the British Lion’s tour to South Africa 2021, saying it was a disgrace. Rassie, a two time world cup winning coach hit back at Matt. By posting a screen shot of Matt’s winning percentage during tenure as head coach of Scotland. Where Matt only managed to win three matches in 17 games.
