The 2026 Andorra Epic

27 June 2026 |

July is the month of cycling, and fans of the sport will be happy to know that it features two of the biggest events on the 2026 calendar. First, the Andorra Epic kicks off on the 2nd of July. Then, of course, the Tour de France cycles off on the 4th of July.

The Andorra Epic is Europe’s answer to the Cape Epic. It takes riders through the toughest and most beautiful terrain that Andorra has to offer. The race takes amateurs and professionals on routes that weave through the Andorran Pyrenees, making it one of the toughest mountain bike races in Europe. In fact, expectations are high for The Andorra Epic 2026 to raise the bar even further.

The Epic Series

It is no coincidence that the Andorra Epic so closely resembles the Cape Epic. Indeed, the two mountain bike races fall under the same umbrella series. The series consists of five different races held around the world. These include the Cape Epic, 4Islands Epic (Croatia), Swiss Epic (Switzerland), Andorra Epic, and the Wines2Whales (South Africa). The race offers riders who do well the chance to earn qualification slots for the ABSA Cape Epic. Furthermore, riders who complete the Cape Epic and two of the other Epic Series events earn the Epic Legend medal. Riders who win the medal become known as exceptional riders in the cycling world. Notably, the races do not have to be finished in the same year to win the medal. Looking ahead, The Andorra Epic 2026 will be a key event for cyclists seeking the Epic Legend status.

The Route of the Andorra Epic

The Andorra Epic is a four-day mountain bike race. It takes riders on an adventure through the iconic mountain trails of Andorra. The race guides riders through World Cup tracks and scenic descents. Although the distance cycled over the four days is much shorter than the Cape Epic. The race makes up for that with the amount of elevation gain riders must face. Teams of two riders each complete the race, which runs mostly on single track. The Andorra Epic 2026 promises some exciting modifications to the already challenging route.

Day 1 – Pal Arinsal to La Massana

The first day of cycling starts in Pal and drives straight into the most technical part of the race. On day one, riders tackle a 49km stage that runs through the World Cup circuit of Pal-Arinsal. The stage features a climb to the top of Coll de Cabús, reaching a height of 2,300m, before descending into the Setúria Valley. After that, another climb leads riders through the Sispony Valley before heading back towards La Massana. In total, the stage delivers +1,440m of elevation gain and -2,100m of descent.

Day 2 – Canillo to La Massana

Stage 2, also known as the Queen’s stage, is the longest ride of the race, covering a distance of 58km. The route winds through the picturesque landscapes of Grandvalira, crossing alpine terrain that leads to the top of Llac de Pessons at a height of 2,350m. From there, riders cycle into the famous descent of Beixalís, one of the best trails in Andorra, before finishing in La Massana. Altogether, the stage covers 2,040m of elevation gain and -2,070m of descent.

Day 3 – Naturland to La Massana

Stage 3 covers 53km and starts at Naturland Cota 1600. From there, Andorra Epic riders must climb to the top of Roca de Pimes at 2,160m. Next, the stage plunges into the natural single track of the Naturland bike park, leading to Sant Julià de Lòria. Finally, the route evens out for the last part of the stage back to La Massana. In total, the stage delivers +1,30m of elevation gain and -1,620m of descent.

Day 4 – La Massana loop

The grand finale is a 45km loop that winds its way through two World Cup courses. Stage 4 includes the climb up Pas del Contrabandista, which leads all the way to the top of Coll de la Botella. Riders then tackle the last descent, a 1,000m run through a bike park. Finally, the breathtaking Commençal trail forms the last part of the stage before riders finish at La Massana.Total elevation gain reaches 1,650m, with -1,650m of descent. Notably, The Andorra Epic 2026 will draw an international field eager for the ultimate test.

A Race to Remember

The Andorra Epic has all the bells and whistles to make it one of the best mountain bike races in the world. This year, fans favour Belgium’s Wout Alleman to win, alongside Andreas Seewald and 2025 champions Marc Stutzmann and Sebastian Gesche Antona. Meanwhile, Anna Weinbeer and Natalia Fischer stand out as the lead contenders for the women’s title. As the third race of the Epic Series, the Andorra Epic leaves the SPAR Swiss Epic in Switzerland and the FNB Wines2Whales for the rest of the year. With anticipation building, The Andorra Epic 2026 is set to be a landmark event for riders and cycling fans alike.
