South African teams back in action in URC
November has been a great rugby month for South Africans but the end of the Boks tour is unfortunately almost in sight. Luckily rugby fans can relax as the United Rugby Championship kicks back into gear as soon as the international season finishes. The URC is made up of 16 provincial teams from South Africa, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Italy.
The 2025/2026 season is the 24th edition of the tournament which started in 2001 but South African teams only joined the championship in 2021. Teams travel between South Africa and Europe to play matches during the season with two South African teams usually staying to host teams from Europe. The season consists of 18 weeks and this kicked off in September and finishes in May 2026. So let us have a closer look at the SA Teams URC fixtures for the next leg.
South African Teams in the URC
Last season finished very disappointing for the Bulls as they lost in a final of the URC for third time. This time it was against Leinster who hosted the final at Croke Park in Ireland. The Stormers are the only team from South Africa to have won the championship since joining the league. The Stormers brought home the silverware in the 2021/2 season. Current title holders Leinster from Ireland has been a dominant force and has won the URC nine times. The Sharks and Lions make up the rest of teams representing South Africa.
Current Log Standings
The next round of play is Week 6 and some teams from South Africa have shown that they are a force this season. The Stormers are currently on the top the table followed by Munster. The Bulls are number 6 on the table trailing the leaders with seven points. The Lions are on 8 on the table having only won two matches out of five this season. The Sharks are having a slow start to their season and is way down on the table in 13th spot. They have only managed to win one of their five last matches.

Betting on the URC
Before placing a bet on the United Rugby Championship matches, you need to do a little homework. Most reputable betting companies, including Playa Bets, Hollywoodbet, and Mzansibet, offer URC betting in South Africa. The odds on the next round will be released closer to the matches.
See where the game will be played, an away game is always a bit harder for the team playing away. The weather can also play a role in the outcome the match, as European teams are much more use to wet weather than South African teams. The next round of URC matches looks promising as well as the SA Teams next fixtures. My hope is that the Bulls finally get the trophy that has been eluding them for years.
