Formula 1 2025, the race is still on!
The 2025 Formula 1 season has just crossed the halfway mark on the journey around the world. This season marks the 75th anniversary of the FIA Formula 1 world championship. It has been a dramatic first half which is still fresh in the minds of racing fans.
We’ve seen the resurgence of Mclaren to the pinnacle of Formula 1. Their drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have been dominating the standings. Red Bull and Ferrari had shown some rather underwhelming and unpredictable results thus far. Can Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton rebound with some updates to their reliability and strategies? So let us have a look at the Formula 1 Update and see the standings thus far for the teams and drivers.
Championship Standings
The Drivers Championship standings have Oscar Piastri in the lead with 309 points as well as 6 wins. He is followed closely by team mate Lando Norris who holds 275 points and 5 wins under his belt. Therefore they remain in an intense duel to be number one. It might come down to the wire at Abu Dhabi to crown the new champion. In 3rd place we have Max Verstappen from Red Bull racing with 205 points and 2 wins. Furthermore the Constructor’s Championship has Mclaren showing a master class in precision, sitting firmly on top with 584 points. They have a commanding lead over their competitors. Ferrari has 260 points and they are also followed by Mercedes with 248 points.
Remaining F1 Fixtures
There are 9 races left in the season, therefore let’s have a look at the dates and venues in this Formula 1 Update.
- September 5-7, Monza, Italy.
- September 19-21, Baku, Azerbaijan.
- October 3-5, Singapore, Singapore.
- October 17-19, Austin, USA.
- October 24-26, Mexico City, Mexico.
- November 7-9, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
- November 20-22, Las Vegas, USA.
- November 28-30, Lusail, Qatar.
- December 5-7, Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi.
Round 16 of the 24 is at the famous Monza race track in Italy. The race is scheduled to take place on the 7th of September. Known as the temple of speed, with the nickname earned due to its high speed nature. The race features long straights and ultra fast corners. A whopping eighty percent of the circuit you drive at full throttle! It’s also the shortest full distance race in the F1 calendar and will undoubtedly put reliability to the ultimate test. Mzansibet has the odds for the race winner at Piastri @ 2.00, Norris @ 2.85 and Verstappen @ 7.50.
Monza is also the track where DRS range can cause an issue for drivers when they are close together on the straight. Whoever can hold the front from early on will probably be the best bet for the win for with clean air and the right car there will be very little that can stop him.
Drivers to Watch at Monza
Piastri has been most consistent while Norris has shown more peaks and valleys in his performance. There is a nice mix of circuits coming up. This should provide for a good back and forth between the two top contenders. Piastri seems to perform well at high speed circuits while Norris shows partiality to the slower and more technical variety. Both drivers are firm favourites going forward. We will definitely see a closely fought battle to keep things interesting.
The next best hope for some variety at the top of the podium is the Flying Dutchman, Max Verstappen. He just needs Red Bull to give him wings. Charles Leclerc and Hamilton of Ferrari is also in mix for this weekend’s race. George Russell in Mercedes will also be taking the momentum from his win in Canada into the race. This Formula 1 update is only a sneak peak of what is still to come this season.
