The Betway Premiership jumps back into action this weekend with six matches lined up. The previous week’s matches had some interesting and unexpected results that shook up the standings. Kaizer Chiefs beating scoreboard leader Mamelodi Sundowns was quite the upset and brings them close enough to be a contender for the 20 million rand prize money. So let us take a closer look at Betway Premiership Update 2025.
Previous weekend’s results in Betway PSL
There were two matches scheduled for Friday night in the Betway PSL. Unfortunately, the match between SuperSport United FC versus Royal AM FC was called off. A new date will be announced. The outcome of this match will also have a significant impact on the mid-table rankings.
TS Galaxy FC defeated AmaZulu FC 2-1 in the opening game of the weekend on Friday. Furthermore this victory helped TS Galaxy to maintain their hopes as they move into the fourth spot on the table.
Saturday saw Magesi FC taking on Golden Arrows FC. Although Golden Arrows dominated the match they weren’t able to capitalise. A goal in 27th minute by Lehlogonolo Mokone from Magesi was enough to secure them a win of 1-0.
Gallants FC and Cape Town City FC both find themselves in the bottom middle order of table. Their match was the second game for Saturday. Cape Town City was unfortunate to lose the match having significantly more possession and shots on target. The Gallants went on to win with 1 goal to none after being able to defend their goal from the first half.
The third match on Saturday in the Betway Premiership saw Polokwane City continuing their losing streak. PC was unlucky not to score against Chippa United who scored two goals.

Matches that took place on Sunday
The most exciting match of the weekend took place at FNB Stadium on Sunday, where Orlando Pirates FC defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in a thrilling encounter. The stats suggest that title holders Sundowns should have won the match but their pitiful one shot at target against Pirates’ 6 was not enough. Relebohile Mofokeng’s two early goals saw Pirates go on to win 2-1.
Sunday afternoon the Betway PSL saw Richards Bay FC crush Kaizer Chiefs FC 2-0! Both goals came in the second half, with Mbuthuma and Gcaba each finding the back of the net.
Sunday’s last match was played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Between Stellenbosch FC and Sekhukhune United. Also third on the log Stellenbosch FC came back in the seventieth minute to secure them a win of 2-1.
Weekend’s upcoming matches in Betway PSL
Six matches will take place this weekend with things heating up at the bottom of the league. Magesi FC, Marumo Gallants, and Cape Town City are in a real dogfight to stay in the top tier.
Saturday 29 March sees Chippa United vs Amazula at 15:30. Golden Arrows take on Kaizer Chiefs at 15:30 and Stellenbosch against Magesi @ 17:45.
Sunday 30 March Cape Town City will play Supersport United at 17:45. Polokwane City versus Richards Bay at 15:30. Furthermore Gallants play against TS Galaxy @ 17:30.
