Skyward Storm Game Review
Skyward Storm takes BetGames’ plane-themed crash series into turbulent skies, adding Lightning Events, four betting panels and a feature called Safe Altitude. However, the central challenge stays familiar: place your bet before take-off, follow the multiplier and cash out before the plane flies away.
As the third game in the series, Storm follows Skyward and Skyward Deluxe. It carries the series’ social features forward while giving players more decisions during each flight. For South African players who enjoy crash games, that creates an interesting mix of straightforward rules and extra moving parts.
Still, those extras deserve a proper look before you place a rand on the runway. In particular, partial cash-out and Safe Altitude come with rules that can change how your bet settles.

How to Play
You place your bet before the plane takes off. Then, the multiplier starts at 1.00x and increases as the flight progresses. You can cash out during the flight to settle your bet at the current multiplier.
For example, a R10 cash bet cashed out in full at 2.00x produces a R20 return, including the R10 stake, before any applicable deductions. However, if the plane flies away while your bet remains active, you lose the amount still in play unless you qualify for a Safe Altitude payout.
Storm adds another complication: Lightning Events can change the active multiplier mid-flight. Consequently, the displayed value can jump upwards or drop suddenly while you decide when to cash out.
Quad Play gives you four betting panels
Skyward Storm lets you switch between Dual Play, which provides two betting panels, and Quad Play, which provides four. Each panel works independently, with its own stake, Auto Play and Auto Cash Out settings.
As a result, you can use different cash-out targets across separate bets in the same flight. You can also keep the layout simpler by using fewer panels.
However, four panels also make it easier to commit more money to one round. Four R10 bets put R40 in play, and all four follow the same flight. Quad Play adds flexibility, but it does not make those bets independent of the round’s outcome.
Lightning Events can boost or halve the multiplier
Lightning Events create Storm’s biggest change to the usual rising-multiplier format. During a flight, a random event can produce one of two outcomes:
- Boost: multiplies the active multiplier by 2, 3, 5 or 10.
- Strike: halves the active multiplier, applying a 0.5 factor.
For example, a 3x Boost applied at 4.00x takes the multiplier to 12.00x. In contrast, a Strike at 4.00x reduces it to 2.00x.
Up to three Lightning Events can occur during one round, in any combination of Boost and Strike. However, a Strike can only occur once the multiplier has reached at least 2.00x. The rules also state that a Strike cannot push it below 1.00x, so the cash-out option remains available while the flight continues.
These events give Storm a more unpredictable rhythm. Nevertheless, a possible Boost offers no certainty that the plane will stay in flight long enough for you to benefit.
Safe Altitude explained
Safe Altitude provides a defined payout if your qualifying bet remains active after the flight reaches a specified multiplier and the plane subsequently flies away before you cash out.
| Multiplier reached | Safe Altitude return on a qualifying cash bet | Example with a R10 stake |
|---|---|---|
| 5x | 1x the stake | R10, returning the original stake |
| 10x | 2x the stake | R20 total return |
| 100x | 10x the stake | R100 total return |
These figures describe total returns rather than additional profit. Therefore, the 5x threshold returns your stake; it does not award a 5x payout.
When Safe Altitude does not apply
Your bet must remain active when the relevant threshold is reached. If you cash out in full beforehand, you receive your cash-out return and no Safe Altitude payout. Crucially, using partial cash-out also removes eligibility for Safe Altitude.
Furthermore, a flight that ends before reaching the first threshold provides no Safe Altitude protection. The feature therefore offers a conditional payout rather than a guarantee that every bet will return money.
Safe Altitude on free bets
Free bets follow different settlement rules because they pay winnings without returning the free-bet stake. Consequently, the Safe Altitude payouts reduce by one stake unit at each threshold:
- 5x reached: no payout.
- 10x reached: 1x the free-bet value.
- 100x reached: 9x the free-bet value.
For example, a qualifying R10 free bet produces no Safe Altitude payout at the 5x threshold, R10 at the 10x threshold or R90 at the 100x threshold.
Full cash-out versus partial cash-out
The Cash out 100% button settles the whole active bet at the current multiplier. Meanwhile, Cash out 50% settles half at the current multiplier and leaves the other half in play.
For example, if you place R20 and use partial cash-out at 3.00x, the settled half returns R30. The remaining R10 stake continues in the flight.
You can use partial cash-out only once per round for that bet. Afterwards, the 50% button becomes inactive, while the 100% button remains available to settle the remaining portion.
However, the remaining amount can still lose if the plane flies away before you cash it out. Also, remember the trade-off: once you use partial cash-out, that bet no longer qualifies for Safe Altitude.
Auto Cash Out and Auto Play
Auto Cash Out lets you choose a multiplier before the flight reaches it. If the flight reaches that target, the game automatically cashes out your entire active bet.
However, Auto Cash Out supports full cash-out only; it does not perform a partial cash-out. It also cannot guarantee a return because the flight may end before reaching your target.
Auto Play automates gameplay using predefined settings where the feature is available in the relevant jurisdiction. Each betting panel has separate settings, so check every active panel before starting a sequence.
Sky Drops and community features
Sky Drops offer free bets that appear at random times during play. Eligible players receive an in-game notification and can press CLAIM to request one.
Each drop contains a limited number of free bets, which players claim on a first-come basis until they run out. In addition, each player can claim a maximum of one free bet per Sky Drop. Values and conditions may vary, so seeing a notification does not guarantee that you will receive a free bet.
Storm also lists Jackpot/Prizepot functionality, leaderboards, winboards and live chat. Together, these features give the game a shared atmosphere. However, check the participating betting site’s terms for eligibility and prize conditions rather than assuming that every version offers the same promotions.
Skyward Storm RTP and volatility
BetGames publishes a 97% RTP for Skyward Storm and classifies it as a high-volatility game. The RTP describes a theoretical long-run average, so it does not mean that you will receive R97 back from every R100 you bet.
Similarly, the 100,000x maximum multiplier describes the game’s upper multiplier limit. It does not indicate a likely result or override a betting site’s applicable payout limits.
Although Storm offers more cash-out choices, those controls do not remove the game’s underlying risk. In particular, Lightning Strikes and early flight endings can interrupt a planned target.

Skyward vs Skyward Deluxe vs Skyward Storm
The three games share the same basic idea: bet before take-off and cash out during the flight. However, each instalment builds a different experience around that foundation.
| Game | Main focus | What distinguishes it |
|---|---|---|
| Skyward | The original plane-themed crash format | Rising-multiplier gameplay with cash-out and automated betting functions |
| Skyward Deluxe | An expanded social experience | Added partial cash-out, Sky Drops, jackpots, leaderboards, winboards and live chat |
| Skyward Storm | More events and decisions during each flight | Adds Quad Play, Lightning Events and Safe Altitude while retaining community features |
The original Skyward offers the most straightforward starting point in the series. Meanwhile, Skyward Deluxe adds more social features and the option to cash out part of a bet. Storm then builds on that experience with four betting panels and random multiplier changes.
Therefore, the main reason to explore Storm is its broader feature set. Players who prefer a simpler round may find the original format easier to follow, while Storm suits those who want more controls to manage.

Skyward Storm – Game Review Summary
Skyward Storm gives BetGames’ crash series a more eventful flight. Quad Play expands the betting layout, Lightning Events add sudden multiplier changes, and Safe Altitude introduces conditional returns after specific milestones.
However, the relationship between partial cash-out and Safe Altitude deserves particular attention. Taking half your return during the flight also means giving up that bet’s Safe Altitude eligibility, so the two features cannot work together on the same bet.
For players who already enjoy Skyward or Skyward Deluxe, Skyward Storm offers clear additions to explore. Nevertheless, treat the extra controls as gameplay choices, keep track of your total stake across panels and set a spending limit before playing. And depending on the season you may experience Halloween or Xmas in flight. Another great crash game to explore is Big Bass Crash or a plane companion such as JetX. PantherBet is also currently running a very fun and interesting promo where you can win a new PS5 & the long awaited GTA 6!
