End of English Premier League season in sight
The title race to become the best English football club is nearing the finish line. Kopites will be on the edge of their seats as the English Premier League 2024-25 season reaches crescendo. Will Liverpool take home the trophy for the second time?
Matchday 29 finished the weekend of the 16th which leaves us with eight Matchdays remaining until we find out who is the crowned the best club in England. Teams have had a two week break before heading into the last leg of the competition. Matchday 30 will kick off on Tuesday the 1st of April. So let’s have a look at the EPL Update 2025.
Matchday 29 Recap
Everton took on West Ham United in the first game for the weekend. Both teams are also in the middle order at the bottom of the table. A goal in the 90th minute brought the score back to level with the final score 1-1.
The second match saw Southampton and Wolves play an uneventful game. Furthermore, Wolves took the lead in the first half and found the net again in the second half. Also a late goal in the net by Southampton in the 75th was not enough. Wolves won the match 2-1. There is still an eight point difference on the log between the two teams with Southampton keeping their lead despite losing the match.
Nottingham Strikes Again!
The third match on Saturday was the most exciting. Ipswich is currently at 3rd from last but never the less brought the fight to Nottingham Forest. Nottingham Forest is also having a wonderful season and is sitting third on the log. The game produced many shots on target. Nottingham was too strong in the end winning with 4 goals to 2. What an EPL Update 2025.
Man City drew against Brighton in their match up on Saturday. Both teams scored two goals to bring the final score to 2-2.
Furthermore Bournemouth was unable to get through the defence of Brentford in their Saturday clash. They scored one goal and dominated the match but two goals from Brentford were enough to secure them a win of 2-1.
Sunday’s match against Chelsea gave the Gunners three points on the log. They beat the Blues with one goal to zero.
Leicester City also continued their losing streak and was unable to defend the onslaught from Man United. Man City scored three goals at King Power stadium. Leicester City couldn’t score a goal thus leaving the home crowd stunned and putting them in the realm of relegation.
Fulham has had a better season than Tottenham Hotspurs. Hotspurs is having the worse season in recent memory and will be happy to finish in the top ten this year. Fulham also climbed two spots on the table by beating Hotspurs 2-0.
Matchday 30 match previews
Liverpool has focused most of their attention on the English League this season. The team has lost the last two important matches. These include; losing the final game of the EFL against Newcastle and falling out in round 16 of the Champions League against PSG. Liverpool needs five wins from their remaining matches to take home the trophy. They take on Everton in their next league game. The odds are in favour with a general consensus from bookies that Liverpool has a 73% of winning. This EPL Update 2025 is one to watch.
Manchester United is torrid season and will take on Nottingham Forest in their next match up. Nottingham Forest is four points behind Arsenal on the scoreboard. A win against Man U will earn them three points moving them closer to that second place on the table.
Arsenal will be aware that Fulham dominated Tottenham in their last encounter. The Gunners have a lot of ground to cover to get close to Liverpool in the number one spot. Tottenham and Arsenal’s game kicks off at 20:45 on April the first.
The battle in the middle order continues on Matchday 30 and it seems inevitable that the bottom three teams will be relegated.
