The Netball Nations Cup 2025 showcased some of the finest netball talents from around the world, culminating in a thrilling final between the Spar Proteas of South Africa and the England Roses.
The Spar Proteas, known for their resilience and skill, have consistently been a formidable force in international netball. Spar Proteas’ Journey to the Final
The Spar Proteas entered the tournament with high hopes and did not disappoint. They demonstrated their prowess by defeating strong teams, including a closely contested match against the hosts, England, which they won 61-59. Their path to the final was a testament to their strategic play and unwavering spirit. They faced England again in the final. The teams that were participating in this tournament were: South Africa, England (Hosts), Uganda and Malawi.
The Final Showdown
In the final, held at the Copper Box Arena in London, the Spar Proteas faced the England Roses in front of a sell-out crowd of 7,000 spectators. The match was a nail-biter from the start. South Africa took an early lead, ending the first quarter 15-12. However, England regrouped and took control in the second quarter, leading 30-28 at halftime.
The third quarter saw South Africa battling hard, even when down a player due to a sending off. Despite this setback, they managed to close the gap to 46-43 by the end of the quarter. In the final quarter, the Spar Proteas leveled the score at 46-46, but England pulled ahead to secure a 61-55 victory.

Respect to our African sisters! Uganda showed incredible grit and determination to secure third place at the 2025 Vitality Netball Nations Cup. The bronze medal match against Malawi was a thrilling showcase of passion and skill. Both teams played with heart, but Uganda clinched the victory with a final score of 50-45. Hats off to Uganda and Malawi for an amazing performance!
